Wrinkle Reducers

Neuromodulators, refer to a class of injectables used to temporarily reduce or eliminate facial wrinkles and lines by relaxing the underlying muscles. The most well-known neuromodulators include Botulinum toxin type A formulations, such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify. These products work by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, leading to a smoother appearance of the skin above those muscles. Neuromodulators are primarily used to treat dynamic wrinkles, which are formed by repeated facial expressions like frowning, squinting, and smiling. Common treatment areas include the forehead, around the eyes (crow's feet), and between the eyebrows (frown lines). The effects of neuromodulators are temporary, typically lasting three to four months, after which the treatment can be repeated to maintain the desired effect.

Instead of directly increasing volume in wrinkles like dermal fillers, neuromodulators work by inhibiting the facial movements that lead to wrinkle formation. Administered by skilled professionals, like the medical team at Frontier Dermatology, neuromodulators ensure a smoother skin texture while preserving the natural capacity for facial expression. This approach has been effectively employed for many years, addressing prevalent aging issues for both men and women.

What You Should Know

How long does it take to see results?

Results typically become noticeable within 3 to 7 days post-treatment, with full effects seen at around 14 days.

BOTOX® treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and more refreshed. BOTOX® is the most popular cosmetic procedure in Seattle and one of our most requested services at Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Center.

How long do the effects of neuromodulators last?

The effects of neuromodulator injections usually last between 3 to 4 months, although this can vary depending on the individual, the area treated, and the specific product used.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are generally mild and temporary. They can include bruising, swelling, redness at the injection site, headache, or flu-like symptoms. More serious side effects are rare but can include muscle weakness or difficulty swallowing when treating neck areas.

Can everyone use neuromodulators?

Not everyone is a good candidate for neuromodulator treatments. People with certain neurological diseases, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those allergic to any component of the injection should not receive neuromodulator treatments.
