The Mohs Surgery Process
Tumor Removal

During the procedure, the surgeon progressively removes layers of the cancerous tissue one at a time, immediately examining each layer under a microscope.
Mapping and Analysis

Once a layer of tissue is removed, it is carefully mapped and color-coded for accurate analysis. The surgeon evaluates the margins to determine if any cancer cells are still present.
Tissue Examination

Each layer is examined under a microscope by the surgeon, who looks for cancer cells along the edges and base.
Wound Closure

Once the cancer is entirely excised, the wound may be repaired using various techniques, such as sutures, grafts, or reconstructive procedures.
