William (Bill) Frerichs is a seasoned executive and corporate director with more than 25 years’ experience building, transforming and leading health care practices and other companies across a diverse spectrum. Throughout his career, Mr. Frerichs established a strong record of success in the C-suite and the boardroom, building high-performing teams and managing large P&L portfolios. His data-driven approach is rooted in strategy development, operations, new format expansions, and talent management, and his results have sparked wide-scale success in turn-arounds, start-ups, and evolving or transitioning companies.
Currently, Mr. Frerichs serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Frontier Dermatology, the leading dermatology provider in the Pacific Northwest. Since his appointment to this role in 2021, Mr. Frerichs has overseen day-to-day operations of the 35-location medical practice and is currently directing a re-branding of the nine legacy practices, uniting them under the Frontier Dermatology banner to better align with its physician-owned model and patient-centric approach. Frontier Dermatology’s dramatic success under Mr. Frerichs’ leadership has required the Company to expand its medical, cosmetic, and administrative teams, committing strong leadership across all facets of the medical organization.
Mr. Frerichs came to Frontier Dermatology from Groundworks Industries, where he served as Vice President of Retail and was credited with growing the company’s footprint from 12 to 27 stores, including opening a flagship operation in Los Angeles. During his tenure at Groundworks, Mr. Frerichs launched omnichannel fulfillment across the enterprise and sourced, implemented, and modernized a new POS system to improve team member and customer experiences.
Prior to this, Mr. Frerichs served as the interim CEO of Zoom+Care, where he managed the organization’s transition to PeaceHealth, a non-profit healthcare system with medical centers, critical access hospitals and medical clinics located in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. In this role, he implemented a new payroll system, updated team-member benefits, and developed a FY budget to support rapid clinic growth resulting in ~$50MM in revenue across 37 clinics. Mr. Frerichs was also the architect of a senior team restructuring and expansion to better meet the needs of the growing organization, and fostered improvements enterprise-wide that reduced corporate expenses by more than 20 percent while increasing revenue by ~20 percent. Mr. Frerichs also cut the company’s turnover rate in half by creating a team member and patient-focused organization.
Prior to this, Mr. Frerichs served in several leadership roles at Target Corporation, ultimately rising to Vice President of Store Operations, where he led in-store replenishment strategies, best practices, and omnichannel operations for 1800+ stores, resulting in more than $70B in revenue and 2 percent comparable sales growth. Among the specific areas that Mr. Frerichs was responsible for was Target’s Pharmacy and Clinic Operations, where he oversaw $20B in revenue, 200 clinicians and 8,000 pharmacist team members.
Mr. Frerichs began his career at Sears Holding Corporation as the Director of Operations (The Great Indoors).
Mr. Frerichs currently serves on the Board of Frontier Dermatology, as a Board Committee Member of Central City Concern, an organization dedicated to helping those struggling with homelessness, and was previously a member of the Board of Directors of Self Enhancement, Inc., dedicated to guiding underserved youth to realize their full potential.
Mr. Frerichs holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising and Marketing from Southern Illinois University. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon with his family.
